BACKGROUND
EpiC Nigeria, with funding support from the U.S. Department of State (DoS) continues to support strengthening National and Subnational Health Security systems for preventing, detecting and responding to public health emergencies and threats.
EpiC is supporting the NCDC and State Ministries of Health to conduct subnational health security assessments and develop State Action Plans for Health Security (SAPHS) across supported states.

To date, internal JEEs have been completed in all 5 states (Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Plateau, Rivers and Bayelsa) and external JEEs in 3 of these states and SAPHS in 2 states.
Part of the support to NCDC entails finalising these documents including technical reviews and copy editing. EpiC is also establishing and institutionalizing sustainable IPC programmes and One Health AMR governance, surveillance and stewardship systems at state and health facility levels. Sustained, state-based technical assistance is required to deliver these interventions within the remaining project timeline.
